LP-MSP430FR2476: How may I emulate the assembly directive .org

Hi All,

I'm working on an assembly source code (for MSPFR2476) written with AS (not TI assembler).

I'm using CCS & TI compiler. I'm facing an issue with the directive ".ORG addr", which set the SPC at this specified address during assembly time.

As far as I know there is not such command .ORG in TI compiler, so I wonder if it is possible to emulate it ?

Hello Claude,

I don't see something that would be a similar directive. See section 2.4.5 and 2.7 of the assembly language tools guide below for information about SPC and symbolic relocations. Maybe this documentation can get you in the right direction.

Thanks Eddie,

I knew this doc. The only way to relatively set SPC seems to define "user section". Not very handy. I'm going to try a global rearrangement of the code.

.org doesn't really get along well with a linker and would really be a problem if you used it for part of your program and let the linker relocate the rest. A quick check of the gcc docs shows that org just moves you around within a section. So if you really require the ability to specify an absolute address, perhaps AS would work: http://john.ccac.rwth-aachen.de:8000/as/ But it will not work with your other tools.

Yes David, I agree, as I said I will rethink the entire code to avoid using .ORG.
