Hello TI experts,
My customer have many interests about the reference below;
https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slaae25
(Single-Chip Pulse Oximeter Designs Based on MSP430FR2355)
and here are my questions;
1. FR2355 does not have special feature for oximeter. just it has ADC, DAC and OP amp, so the combination of these modules can make oximeter. am i right?
2. if no1 is right, Can FR2353 be used for the reference oximeter?
3. in in page 5 of SLAAE24 document, there is an image of reference PCB. Can I buy it in somewhere?
4. I can see the program "FR2355 PPG demo" in page 10 of SLAA24 document. where can I download it?
(If this thread does not suitable for this category, please tell me or move to another category, and tell to another experts who may have interests.)
please check these issues. Thanks.
Best regards,
Chase
Hi Chase,
Please check the below answer:
Q1: yes, FR2355 have 4*SAC(DAC+OA) module, this can finish single-chip pulse oximeter solution.
Q2: FR2353 only have 16KB FRAM, thus maybe the memory size is the issue for pulse oximeter.
Q3: We provide the hardware file and you can make the PCB dieectly, we don't sale this demo.
Q4:Yes, the GUI already upload, you can down via this link: https:// www.ti.com/lit/zip/slaae25
Thanks!

Hi Johnson,
Thank you for your response.
here is my one more question.
actually I saw another document, https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/SLAA274 (A Single-Chip Pulsoximeter Design Using the MSP430)
in that document I can also see red led and infrared led. but I cannot see these 2 leds in SLAAE24 document.
do not these 2 leds need for this new solution? or we have to make other PCB for the pictures below?
and if it do not need and only need one photo diode, could you explain why do not need these 2 leds anymore?
Please check this issue. Thanks.
Best regards,
Chase
Hi Chase,
We need 2*LED(IR + RED) and 1 Photodiode.
Thanks!

Hi Johnson,
Here is more questions,
1. regarding to your answer, i should connect 2*LED to J1 connector on reference schematic.
I cannot find any part or schematic for this separate PCB. do you have any information about this?
at least I should know the specification or part no. of BJT connected to these 2 LEDs.
2. I think this application is very sensitive to current consumption, because it runs from 2 AAA batteries.
Do you have any data about current consumption of this reference?
Best regards,
Chase
Hi Chase,
Q1: This is a NPN or MOSFET, and I used S8050 NPN for my test.
Q2: Actually, Now, we don't have more test data for power consumption.
Thanks!

Hi Johnson,
I just met my customer yesterday. here are more questions.
1. what is the official (or measured) accuracy of this solution?
2. they want to get medical certification for their product. is there any known reference or product about it?
3. can you inform the part number about infrared / red led which you tested?
Best regards,
Chase
Hi Chase:
Q1: In our test the accuracy : PI less than 0.4
Q2: This area should main focus on PI(Q1).
Q3: LED: DLED-660/940-CSL
I will send you the private eamil to discussion more.
Thanks!
Best Regards
Johnson
