Part Number: MSP-EXP430G2
I am attempting to program the MSP430FR2675 by using the MSP-EXP430G2 launch pad, I was told since both have SBW I should be able to accomplish this by hooking up the RST, VCC, VSS, and TEST pins from the launchpad to the FR2675 respectively. In code composer when I try flashing the chip it says it does not recognize the board. What other tool would I use to program the FR2675 chip?
I had something like this happen and it was because Vss (Gnd) was *not* hooked up. You are using the pins towards the top of the board, right?
Hi Alex,
Yes, this should work to program the FR2675 since SBW is supported. As Keith mentioned, be sure that you also have GND connected between the 2 boards.
Can you post a picture of your connections? Does the SBW work with the target on the launchpad?
Also note that the "Vcc" should be the 3.3 V rail and not the 5 V.
I'm pretty sure the (old) G2 Launchpad won't program anything but F2-series devices, and it can't be upgraded.
I think the (new) G2ET can program pretty much everything.
[Edit: The authoritative list is in MSP Debuggers (SLAU647O) Table 1]
Good luck, I have one backordered at Digikey until January. However, any MSP430 Launchpad with SBW should work.
Alex,
The MSP-EXP430FR2433 appears to be in stock if you are not able to find the G2 ET board stocked somewhere.
