EVM430-FR6043: HID connection problems

Hi Patrick,

This is a strange one.

When connected to you win10 PC, is LED D201 on steady and D202 blinking about once/sec?  You may need to momentarily push/release button 201 to see this.

By chance, do you have two instances of the USS design center running?

Yes LED201 is steady and D202 is blinking as it does with the windows 7.
If i push the reset button 201 is shows the same status after release.
I just restartet my PC and only opend de USS software, so nothing else was ready to use/block the ports. so no i have just one USS open.

Ok try the following.  Navigate to the directory C:\ti\msp\CapTIvateDesignCenter_1.83.00.08\CapTIvateDesignCenter and type the following to launch the design center in debug mode from a command line.

java -Djava.library.path=HidManagement -jar CapTIvateDesignCenter.jar -debug 1

After the GUI launches, try to connect to the target.  Do you see something like the following?

im using the USS DesignCenter for ultrasonicsensors. so i dont have the CapTIcateDesignCenter
can i launch this one also in a debug mode?

Oops!  Sorry about that.  I was on auto-pilot with that response.  I'm supporting a lot of Captivate posts as well.  As far as I know, yes you can.  If you haven't already, give it a shot.  Just make sure you do this from the directory with the GUI's java file is located.

it worked, but i cant see any hint to the problem.
maybe you cna get something out of the messages.

still the same on my side. i work at the moment with the windows 7 PC.
do you have any news from the SW group?

No.  The SW engineer that created the GUI left TI a year ago so they are having someone from the team try to go back through the code to see what might be the cause.  The fact that you have it working on WIN7 and that there are probably hundreds of other customers using it without issue makes it much more difficult to determine the issue on your specific PC.  I assume you have at least 1.7 Java installed on this machine.

In your screen capture above, there a USS.log file.  Do you see it on both the WIN7 and WIN10 PCs in the path shown in the capture?  Can you provide a copy?

Hi Patrick,

Our SW engineer is indicating that it probably has something to do with the GUI trying to launch the 32-bit version of the HID communications manager.  You are running WIN10 so it should load as shown here.

He recalls that the 32-bit version was tested on WIN7, but not on WIN10, since most users would be using WIN10 64-bit.  Here is the Java code that searches for the version of OS.  He suggests that you double check you are using Java 1.7 or later.

im a liddle busy at the moment, but i can try it out. 
Java version is 8.0.3110.11.
for me the easy way is to work with the Windows 7 PC for the moment.
