I was able to flash MSP430 using MS VScode with the following code
e2e.ti.com/.../ccs-msp430fr6972-msp430fr69xx-jtag-password
but when I try using CCS to flash the Out of Box stuff, I get the JTAG password error???

Hi Charles,
The MSP403FR4133 does not have a JTAG user defined password see below from MSP430 Programming with the JTAG Interface.
I also recommend reading section 1.11 Device Security from the User's Guide.
In the out of box example, under the .cmd file (the linker file) lines 62 and 63 unlock the BSL and JTAG.

Luke
So basically, if you write anything to a 4xxx MSP430 without explicitly writing FFFF_FFFFh or 0000_0000h to FF80h through FF83h it will lock the device?
If this is true, how do I use CCS to send updated firmware with this unlock value enabled?
Hi Charles,
I recommend following the linker file in the out of box example where it specifies the values to the BSL and JTAG password, this explicitly assigns the passwords to the correct memory address.

Luke
Sorry I dont have much expertise when it comes to this sort of thing. what do you mean “follow the linker file”?
Hi Charles,
I meant "follow" by using the same structure as the example. The linker file is the .cmd file, this file is included in all examples. Below is a screenshot of the memory section in the linker file and shows the JTAG and BSL signatures being set.
Can you program using the simple GPIO toggle example and let me know if it works or if you have the same error? If you get another error, send me the error information.
Regards,
Luke
