MSP430G2553: Using I2C with DMA on any MSP430

Hi Experts,

I am using MSP430G2553. From (https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa382a/slaa382a.pdf) I found that I can use I2C with DMA on any MSP430 2xx device with the USCI module. But in the product datasheet in the functional block diagram, I can see there is 1 channel DMA but it is inside the ADC block. So my question is can I use this DMA for I2C purposes or is it only for ADC use?

No. The DTC can only be triggered by the ADC.

There exist F2-series devices with DMA, but the G2553 isn't one of them.

Hey Josel,

Bruce is correct. Looks like the DMA on the MSP430G2553 is for ADC only.

Just to give an option in case this is for a brand new design, they could consider on of our new MSPM0 devices such as the MSPM0L1306 as it has I2C and multi channel DMA.
