MSP430FR5969: Integrating MSP430FR5969 with LORA RIYAX RYLR998 module

Just use a uart and send a serial stream to the module. The same serial stream should show up at the other end.

Though you could also use something like a CC1352 which has the transmitter and MCU in one package

I have already used CC1352R and LPSTK-CC1352R but the range is too small. I want a module that can transmit for more than 1 km and CC1352R can just transmit for 400m max.

Also I was trying to play with the UART of the MSP430FR5969 and cannot understand why the serial terminal never prints the text I am sending.

Have you tried the UART echo example?

Yes, I have tried the UART echo example and still cannot see anything on the serial screen even if I send some characters using keyboard

Yes the code is uploaded to the launchpad MSP430FR5969 and I don't understand why the serial terminal never shows any text even if I send something. Also what do you mean by blinky???

Yes that program works completely fine!

Load the example UART echo, and put a scope on it to see if you are getting serial data to and from the device.

I notice that there are some subtle differences between your program and the echo example.

Just to be clear scope should put at which location ??

The serial data from the backchannel uart comes across the TDX and RDX jumpers. A quick glance at the schematic would tell you that.

Keith I don't have an oscilloscope. Is there any other way around to check if those pins are working??

You can put a volt meter on it and see if it changes when you send a lot of data through. The main reason to use a scope is that you can verify the baud rate.

A scope is almost required for work like this. How are you going to verify that the signal coming out of the reciever is OK?

1) 4MHz/16/52=~4800 bps, not 9600 bps.

2) Somewhere you need to "PM5CTL0 &= ~LOCKLPM5;" to enable the pins. I'm a little bit surprised the compiler didn't warn you about this.
