MSP-FET stopped working

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2955, MSP-FET

I've been using a MSP-FET to flash MSP430G2955s for months. I have been using the Elprotronic FET-Pro430 Lite freeware as the PC interface. My boss want me to have our board house to do the flashing. In doing a write up for the board house I noticed my version of FET-Pro430 Lite has XP as the latest OS it can run on. I've had it running in capability mode on my Window7 32bit machine. Not knowing what the board houses PC might be running, I found there is a newer version  FET-Pro430 Lite, so I've uninstalled the old and installed the new. Now it is indicating my MSP430G2955 is not powered.

So I uninstalled the new FET-Pro430 Lite and reinstalled the old version, but still have the same message. The MSP-FET should be supplying the power.

Any idea as to how I can troubleshoot this issue? Are there updates to the USB driver around?

  • Hello Mark,

Inside of FET-Pro430 can you please select About/Help -> About Software and tell me the Software Version and MSP-FET430UIF Firmware? Are you using the MSP-FET JTAG to power the MSP430G2955 or an external power supply? If external, please indicate as such under the "Power Device from Adapter" box. If using the MSP-FET, make sure that the voltage is present at the MSP430's Vcc pin.
