Hi,
some time ago I asked about the recovery of a MSP-FET (black, serial 1901011xy)Rev 2.0.6. I was advised to perform the cold boot procedure https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/msp-low-power-microcontrollers-group/msp430/f/msp-low-power-microcontroller-forum/969101/ccs-msp-fet-msp-fet-asked-for-firmware-update-now-not-working-anymore/3581149?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=%20user%3A473728#3581149
I followed it at the time and unfortunately CCS must have thought wrongly that I had a MSP-FET430UIF (old grey) and installed the corresponding firmware.
Is there any other possibility to recover the FET (using another FET or another reset procedure so I can get it back in a working state? I would be very grateful for any help.
Best regards
Pio
The firmware update seemed to have run flawlessly, only that it installed the FET430UIF Firmware instead of the FET-Firmware...
Hi Pio,
I spoke with our sw tools team and they asked if you tried to perform the cold boot procedure a second time. I'm going to go through the procedure on one of mine to see why you are not able to get yours to work.
Hi Pio,
By chance, do you have one of the old gray UIF versions connected to your computer at same time you are trying to recover the newer one?
I went through the procedure on (3) MSP-FETs and they all worked.
Hi Dennis
Thank you very much for your answer. No, there is no other FET(430uif) connected. I made a clean install of ccs on my personal computer and started a screen recording, at the end it still thinks it's a UIF... Can I supply any other info (Gerätemanager? I also have fedora 34 installed on this machine and could furnish some log outputs if that'd help.
(I tried installing ccs under fedora for a totally different system, but that didn't work as there does seem to be some library and x32 support missing...)
Thank you very much for your help.
Hi Pio,
Your video was very helpful - thank you. Although it did not provide any specific clue, it does show the steps you took.
I went back and looked through your previous posting to see if you indicated if you are running Windows, Linux or MacOs?
Hi Dennis
Thank you very much for your help!
This was all under Windows.
(I do have Linux on my laptop, too and wanted to try it there, to see if anything behaves differently but didn't manage to install ccs)
Next week I'll be on vacation tho ... I will check back here after
Pio
Hi Dennis
Thank you very much for asking, I have unfortunately still not been able reactivating it... Is there a way to download and flash the firmware on the FET using another FET (or the integrated programmer of a launchpad?
Best regards,
Pio
