CCS/MSP-FET: MSP-FET stopped working

Hi,

I have been using "MSP-FET stand alone debug probe" since few months. It was working fine till now. Since yesterday I am getting this error:

"error: MSP430: Error connecting to the target: Unknown device"

After getting this error I tried to code a different board (MSP430FR6989 Launchpad), and I am still getting the same error. So I am guessing there is some trouble with the debugger.

Does anyone know what could be the problem ?

Hello Aditi,

Which IDE are you using for programming IAR/CCS... In IAR you have option of Automatic/Manual selection.. If it is manual select Spi-bi interface as your connections are for the same.. rest connections looks ok and it might be hardware fault..

Hello Aditi,
If you are using CCS, it automatically detects the same..so Looks like some hardware fault with MSP-FET..You can use MSP430F5529 Launchpad debug interface for programming your board with all other things remaining same .

Yes. I already did that. So as of now,the problem is solved.

However, I want to know that what exactly went wrong, so that similar mistakes could be avoided in the future.
