MSP Debug Stack Driver for Windows 10

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSPDS

Hi team,

It has been brought up that the latest MSP Debug Stack (MSPDS-USB-DRIVERS) does not contain a Windows 10 specific driver as it shows it does on the tool folder:

http://www.ti.com/tool/MSPDS

I just downloaded it and the latest in the lineup of directories is Windows 7 32/64. I have a feeling that the Windows 8 and 10 OS’s can use this just fine but it was brought up that the tool folder leads one to believe differently.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Billy

  • Hi Billy,

The MSPDS tools page states that the MSP Debug Stack is officially supported on Windows 8/10 for 32- and 64-bit, and it has been tested and confirmed as such. But I understand the confusion that is created when the downloaded materials indicate that only certain OSs are supported so thank you for bringing this to our attention. I will alert the MSPDS experts of this issue where they can decide if the Web Team needs to make changes to the tools page or download materials so further confusion is avoided.

    Regards,
    Ryan
  • Thanks Ryan,

Can you confirm that Windows 8 and 10 use the packaged Windows 7 driver?

The impression is that its an incomplete package and “missing” a Windows 8 and 10 directory.

    Thanks for the help,
    Billy
  • Hi Ryan, Florian,

Can someone please confirm what physical driver Windows 10 would be using since there is not a specific directory for that, and provide some feedback about the initial issue brought up?

    Thanks,
    Billy
  • Billy,

Is the customer not confident with using their IDE? CCS installs the appropriate drivers automatically, can the customer view the folder directory under ccsv6 -> drivers -> msp430 and comment on what drivers are installed for their Windows 10 OS?

    Regards,
    Ryan
  • Hi Ryan,

We were looking for feedback from your team to confirm that there was not supposed to be a Windows 10 directory in the package. I think you and I have confirmed that although I never heard back from anyone else about the web feedback if so.

The second part brought up was what specific driver would Windows 10 be using from this package, if someone decides to go this route versus the bundled emulation package in CCS.

    Thanks,
    Billy
  • Issue taken offline - anyone interested yes Windows 8 and 10 make use of the packaged Windows 7 driver. Wording on the product page is being evaluated.
