MSP430G2102: Capacitiive Sensing - Active Guard Ring

Hello,

I am designing a high volume liquid level sensory using the MSP430G2102. The initial is design is working well. However, we would like to implement an active guard ring to improve performance. I have read app notes using an active guard ring but none that include using an MSP part. Can you please let me know how I can implement this feature from both the hardware and software side.

Hello Mark,

The CAPSENSELIBRARY does not support an active guard ring but passive GND guard rings are commonly used. If you are interested in the latest capacitive touch technology offered by TI then I recommend you look into CapTIvate, the MSP-CAPT-FR2633 is a cost-effective MCU Development Kit to help you get started with your design.

I am not aware of such a method for MSP430 cap touch solutions.

CapTIvate technology implements a guard channel for proximity sensing, palm rejection, and basic moisture rejection, this must be tuned for a specific application and might be what you are looking for: software-dl.ti.com/.../ch_design.html
