MSP430FR2522: Touch capacities

Part Number: MSP430FR2522
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BOOSTXL-CAPKEYPAD

Hello.... I need touch sensor for a very special application in which I have to recognize objects placed on a wood table surface; so I bumped into this page () which suggests me to useMSP430FR25x family sensor; unfortunatelly I have any idea how to use it in my application so I am asking if somebody has some suggestions to say me.

  • Hi Davide,

What kind of objects are you trying to detect? It can be tricky to detect non-conductive materials, as well as materials that are conductive but are electrically floating (not terminated to potential). The easiest way to see if it works for your usage is to test your idea out on a kit. The BOOSTXL-CAPKEYPAD development kit has 3 pins which can be used for prototype sensors. You could connect some conductive tape (copper tape, for example) to the back of your wood surface and wire the prototype sensor back to the evaluation board for measurement.
