MSP430FR2422: PC software using MSP-FET for communication via JTAG mailbox (JMB)?

Hallo,

my MSP430 firmware is designed to communicate via JTAG mailbox (JMB). I am locking for best solution to interface the JMB withe a PC just to send commands, read logging data, adjust control parameters etc...

TI provides the Application Report SLAA763 where the JMP is interfaced by a SimpleLink™ MSP432P401R MCU operating as JMB host. For connection to the PC a UART interface of this MCU can be used. TI delivers sourc code for the SimpleLink™ MCU.

On the other hand I have the MSP-FET available.

1. Is my assumption correct that the MSP-FET is able to communicate via JMB too?

2. Is there any PC-software available supporting a simple communication via MSM-FET and JMP?

3. Are there further alternatives for an adapter between my MSP430 JMB and the PC?

I don't understand why TI didn't implement this for MSP-FET till today. It is not a rocket science.

My SBW+ flasher (non compatible with TI software / hardware) have 2 CDC-Mailbox bridges that are active after device release. I found too late that TI device is not best choose for SBW master, so I am porting project to another platform. But still have some old boards, and you can PM me if you can not find other (TI) solution.

I haven't been able to find any other alternatives besides the App note you pointed out. I have reached out to the appropriate contacts and will have more information soon.

Hi Stefan,

I confirmed with our team that we currently do not have any implementations for MSP-FET communication via JMB. I did not find any other alternative options for JMB communication besides the app note you referenced.
