Hi
Is there a way to activate a backlight LED on this display, I find it absolutely unreadable without.
Thanks
Peter
Greetings,
Using the forum's 'Search Box' (up top) the following related postings revealed:
As to the 'presence/absence' of a backlight - the board's schematic should identify any (potential) backlight power supply and connection - if a backlight is present...
Hi
I searched for "BOOSTXL-SHARP128 backlight" and got no answers.
I don't see how the link you provided is related to my question concerning the backlight / back illumination.
And I certainly don't intend to fiddle with the circuit board. I purchased a product from TI and expect it to work decently. This LCD is,
in my view, unusable without back illumination which is standard for even the cheapest displays I have seen.
So I'd like an official reply from TI on that.
Kind regards
Peter
Hi back,
Feel your pain - yet your response proves 'bit aggressive!' (In response to one (the only one) who, 'took interest & attempted to aid.')
Much code was noted w/in the referenced link - the presence of a backlight (may) have been revealed - along w/ the code required to drive it. (My group left it to you - to make that effort...)
Sharp did produce 'E-Ink' displays which are famed for consuming little power - and do 'Not' employ (nor require) backlighting. (the room's ambient lighting must be sufficient, though.) The display images w/in the link provided (appear) to show an 'E-Ink' display.
Vendor agents are best able to determine the display type provided - and offer further detail... (Yet their 'weekend arrival' has lessened - thus my 'more timely' response (suggesting 'your investigation') - should your need have been dire...)
Hi
Sorry, I certainly didn't mean to be aggressive to the person that tried to help, but I admit I was ( and I still am) annoyed by the product as sold by TI.
The price tag is 35 USD + shipping and as it stands, I find the display almost unreadable even with good lighting.
This is why my effort to find the "nugget" in your link certainly fell a bit short (;- , I apologize.
Again sorry for the tone and thank you for your time and help.
Kind regards
Peter
