Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5528, MSP-FET
The uC of the evaluation board is burned. Can I buy a new one and just replace it? will it work and will I be able to upgrade the firmware via the DRV84xx_DRV82x2_DRV89x2-EVM-GUI?

Hi Horacio,
Sorry to hear the MCU was damaged. Yes you could replace it, however you'd need the MSP-FET JTAG tool to program the new MSP430F5528. If you have an MSP-FET, https://www.ti.com/tool/MSP-FET I can send you the procedure and the .txt file to program the MSP430F5528. After this step you'd be able to program the GUI related EVM firmware using the GUI.
If you do not have the JTAG tool and not familiar with programming, I'd recommend you to get a new EVM.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I don't have the MSP-FET JTAG, but it would be a good idea to buy one for the future. If you can send me the procedure will be perfect!
Furthermore, would it be possible to program the MSP with a JTAG programmer?
Thanks
Hi Horacio,
The MSP430F5528 is used as the USB to UART VCP transport for data communication between the driver MSP and the GUI. It is possible to program it with the MSP-FET using SBW connections to the header between the two MSP430 devices and connecting SBW wires.
Please follow the directions in this post to program the MSP430F5528, https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/msp-low-power-microcontrollers-group/msp430/f/msp-low-power-microcontroller-forum/490143/where-to-obtain-the-ezfet-image-as-on-the-launchpad-to-load-into-a-msp430f5528-and-what-hw-cable-pod-etc-is-required?keyMatch=EZFET+LITE.
After this is completed you can disconnect the MSP-FET other JTAG HW connected to the computer and then do a firmware update using the GUI.
