LM5116: LM5116

Part Number: LM5116

Good morning

Can you please thell me the difference between the LM5116MH and the WG version, (apart from a £130 price difference, and a different package).

The data sheet states that the WG regulator is for "harsh" environments, without and real explanation of the term.

Can you please enlighten me

Thanks in advance

  • Hello Roger

LM5116WG is based on LM5116, but the thermal shutdown is disable and it is in ceramic instead of plastic package.

Electrically, there is no difference except thermal  shutdown. Mechanically,  the pin pitch of LM5116WG is wider than LM5116, which allows WG version can be used at higher pollution degree circumstance.

  • Hi Eric.

When you talk about "higher polution" are you talking about electrical polution, ie noise

    Regards

    Roger

  • Hello Roger

Pollution Degree is defined in INDUSTRY STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS. Please check the creepage section of IEC 62368-1 for example. It says Pollution degree is a classification based on the amount of pollution present in the environment.
