LM5116: LM5116

Part Number: LM5116

HI Jason,

I'm using the lm5116 as a buck converter from 30V to 10V and 30V to 5V.

The FET that we are using has a damage limit of 6V on the gate.

By using the VCCX would it be possible to apply a LDO to the VCCX pin to control the potential on the FET gate at 5V?

What pro's and con's are there using the VCCX?

would you have a suggestion for an LDO to source the 5V on the VCCX pin?

  • Hello George

Unfortunately, it is not okay to use 5V VCCX and it is not recommended.

Also, even if VCC is controlled in the range of 4.5 to 5.5V, there can be more than 0.5V voltage spike at he MOSFET gate due to parasitic.
