UCC27322: Power supply

Part Number: UCC27322
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28610

Hi team.

My customer is using UCC27322 in interleaved PFC circuit. Please refer to the schematic diagram of reference design here. Customer now wants to change the supply voltage to 14.5V with lower margin to max recommend voltage(15V). Do you think is it OK?

  • Hello Naizeng,

It should be fine as long as VDD stays well regulated to around 14.5V and doesn't overshoot too much. It is hard for me to say whether or not it will be a problem without more system information. Based on the schematic, It looks like the UCC28610's overvoltage protection should work to prevent any issues, but I am not as familiar with that part.  If the customer wants more margin, they could consider using UCC27614 which is a new driver that is P2P with certain packages of UCC27322. Also, I think it makes sense to use a dual channel driver such as UCC27624 instead of two single channel drivers, but it depends on control and drive strength.

    Thanks,

    Alex M.
