LM5176: TEC driver design support

I've read the TIDA-050017 TEC Driver Reference Design. I have a TEC that is rated at 12V and 8.33A.

Would this design be suitable to drive the TEC using the Digital PI control described in the TIDA-050017?

    One more point of information. During testing, we found that the TEC required 16V to achieve the cooling performance we needed. We don't need as much on the heating side, so the plan is to operate the buck boost to output ~1V to 28V from a 12V input (150W power brick).

    sorry, it took some more days.

    Yes, the LM5176 can do that but there is one limitation you need to consider.

    During startup the output voltage cannot be higher than the input voltage.

    As the TEC element is connected between input and output the TEC element bias the output with the input voltage.

    Therefore, you need to set the initial output voltage to at least the input voltage or the max input voltage if this as a variable range.

    After the startup you can then readjust and/ or regulate to the required output voltage level. This should not be a big issue as the response of a TEC element is quite low.
