Hi
The customer use BQ25710. It can only drive 48W load. The input current is limited when it reaches 5.5A, and the IDPM is set to 6400mA in the software.
The same phenomenon with BQ25710EVM-017. The sense resistance is 10 milliohm. How to improve the input current capability
Waiting for your reply.
Thanks
Star
Hi Star,
Can you send the register values when this is happening?
You can do this on BQStudio.
What is the customer's input voltage, battery voltage, and ISYS load?
Thanks,
Peng
Hi Peng
Thanks for your reply.
Attached the schematic.

1, Debugging found that the setting of Bit[4:3] (IL_AVG) of the register ChargeOption3 has an impact on the input current limit.
I used to set it to 0-6A. Now after adjusting IL_AVG to 15A, the input current limit is normal. Will the setting of IL_AVG affect the current limit of the device?
2, If I need a larger input current, the RSNS_RAC is set to 10 mΩ in the software, and the actual resistance is 5 mΩ. Is this method feasible?
3, The input voltage is 12V and 19V, but our motherboard is designed to meet the power of 9-22V adapter, and the power of the motherboard is 100W when it is running at full power. The battery is 3 series, and the minimum voltage of the system is set to 9V, but the battery is not connected at the test stage.
Waiting for your reply.
Thanks

Hi Star,
1. Yes. IL_AVG setting can affect charger operation because it affects the power stage. It is good to hear the problem is now resolved.
2. BQ25710 only supports 10mohm current sense minimum. If they need 5mohm current sense, they will need to switch to BQ25720. Please see below comparison table
3. I don't understand the question being asked or if they were merely stating their application, but it seems like the overall problem is resolved (by changing IL_AVG).
Thanks,
Peng
