I designed a circuit with 2 voltage sources, one of them TPS61022, followed by a multiplexer TPS2116. This obviously was a mistake, because a short on the multiplexer's output blew it up right away.
I want to modify the design, and switch to the TPS2117 that can handle 4A output (TPS2116 only 2.5A). To avoid blowing it up when the output is accidentally shortened, I wan to replace the TPS61022 (8A) with something less capable. Unfortunately, I can only see values for "valley switching current limit" in the datasheet, and have no idea how this value translated to the circuits output current.
Therefore, my question: Would the TPS61033 (5A valley switching current limit) still blow the TPS2117 in a short-circuit condition?
Would the TPS610333 (1.8A) be the better choice and a life-insurance for the TPS2117?
The input voltage for the TPS21033/TPS610333 comes from a protected Lithium cell that can deliver something about 20A.

EDIT: Case closed. I realized I shouldn't take a converter with pass-through at all, and will change my design to the TPS63802. This should work.
