Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using TPS92074 for their next products.

At this moment, they have the following questions.
Could you please give me your reply?

Q1.

They want to add TPS92074 enable (LED on/off) function.
Do you know how to add the function?
Is it a way to add NMOS FET VSEN and GND?
I think LED is off (TPS92074 is disabled) when the NMOSFET is turned on and VSEN = L.

Q2.

They want to need a AC/DC LED driver which has the following function.
If you know any device which can achieve the functions except TPS92074, please let me know?

- Controller type (External switching FET type) (Mandatory)
- No isolated (Mandatory)
- Enable (LED on/off) control by digital signal (Mandatory or alternative way is mandatory)
- PFC type and No PFC type (They want to know one device at least for each type)
- Over voltage protection.
- Input voltage : AC100V +/- 15V before diode bridge.
- Output power wattage is about 12W.
- Output voltage max: 35V.
- Triac dimming is not needed.

Hi Kazuya,

Please check below comments regarding your questions:

Grounding the VSEN pin will not disable the TPS92074 (Please refer to Section "Not Using Voltage Sense" from the datasheet). May I understand how fast will the customer turn on / off the LED? Do they need PWM dimming? Or just simply turning on / off the LED driver?
TPS92074 is the suitable candidate for PFC type.

I understood VSEN can't be used to turn the LED off.

They just want to turn on / off the LED driver. So fast on/off is not needed.

Do you have any schematic idea to turn the LED on/off?

Or is there any other device to suit their requirement?

Currently I do not have any schematic for that, but I can draw one simple graphical illustration for you and it needs some time. I will reply to you within this week.

For no-PFC part, you can take a look at LM3444.

A possible way to enable or disable LM3444 / TPS92074 is to use the UVLO function of the VCC pin.

I attached a schematic to control TPS92074/LM3444 for these device enabling/disabling.
Can these device enable/disable be controlled by the red color NMOSFET in the schematic?

I think theoretically your drawing should work. However, I have not tested this method and customer should test this themselves.
