BQ24295EVM-549: Support Software of BQ24295EVM GUI board USBtooGPIO 2

Hi Shirish,

That version of the GUI is not compatible with the USB-to-GPIO2, only with the original USB-to-GPIO. I recommended switching over to a USB2ANY device and using the TI Charger GUI to program the IC.

As mentioned in the BQ24295EVM user's guide, I ordered a USBtoGPIO2 communication Kit board I connected as per test conditions and I downloaded GUI from the TI website only. So, how can not it be compatible?

Hi Shirish,

To clarify, the user guide requires a USB-to-GPIO communication kit (HPA172-USB). This is separate from the USB-to-GPIO2 which is a newer version but is not compatible with the BQ24295EVM's older software. Apologies for the confusion.

USB-to-GPIO kit is obsolete and TI website is suggesting USB-to-GPIO2 board as alternate part.

That's right. For newer customer evaluations we recommend the USB2ANY, rather than the USB-to-GPIO2, to use with the TI Charger GUI. Both this hardware and software are still being supported and maintained. The old software is similarly deprecated and is not updated to be used with the USB-to-GPIO2.
