Hi team,
What should the customer connect to GATE_VBUS, GATE_VSYS and VSYS? My customer refers to the user guide of TPS25751EVM, but there are no descriptions about them.
Best regards,
Shunsuke Yamamoto
Shunsuke,
Is your customer using the TPS25751S or TPS25751D?
The figure that you have captures is the TPS25751D and that part has an internal power path. The TPS25751S has the gate drivers and can support an external power path.
The Datasheet for the TPS25751 shows the connections for the TPS25751S on page 34:
PP_EXT connects to VBUS on the connector and VSYS is the high voltage tolerant power input to the system.

Chuck
Hi Chuck-san,
Thank you for the reply. How about configuring TPS25751S as source device? The connection of GATE_VBUS, GATE_VSYS and VSYS is same as you mentioned?
Best regards,
Shunsuke Yamamoto
Shunsuke,
There is no difference in connection between source and sink for the TPS25751s. The power path is not directional.
You will use the Application customization tool to configure the device to match your requirements.

Chuck
Hi Chuck-san,
My customer mentioned that he doesn't plan to use source path only. He doesn't plan to use sink path. In this case, is it possible not to connect external FETs on TPS25751S?
Best regards,
Shunsuke Yamamoto
Shunsuke,
If they only plan to support 5V sourcing, then they have no need for the external power path and they should select the TPS25751s.
When they implement the design, they can ground VSYS and leave GATE_VBUS and GATE_VSYS floating. The device will apply a weak pulldown on the GATE_VBUS and GATE_VSYS.

Chuck
