In the reference PCB design files for this controller, NC pins are connected to ground. But the datasheet states "No Electrical Connection". What is the reasoning behind connecting these to ground in the reference designs, and should the NC pins be connected to ground or not?

    Hi Nicolas,

    Go ahead and tie these pins to the ground copper at the IC, as it improves the heat spreading. In this case (LM5146/LM5145/LM25145), there is "no electrical connection" internally. Apologies for the ambiguity.
