Tool/software:
hello. I am designing a sic gate driver using UCC5390. I want it to generate +18V, -3V.
So the input voltage +12V is fixed and I want to use this voltage to generate +18V, -3V. Is there any good solution?
I need to change the circuit on the left and would appreciate if you could share your recommendations and schematic. I have heard that there is also a way to use a Zener diode.
Thank you.
Sorry, my mistake, the input voltage should be around 21V isolated, not 12V. I want to make the 21V into 18V, -3V.
Hi Jeoun,
Your UCC5390 has a Vee = -5V and Vcc=20V. Are you sure you don't want to make these -3V and 18V also? That will greatly simplify the design.
Below is a achematic example of a Zener diode based bipolar supply. You can get more voltage accuracy with a LM431 or similar shunt regulator.
Best regards,
Sean
