TPS62080: the static current in the sample TPS62080ADSG was too large

Part Number: TPS62080

The customer found that the static current in the sample TPS62080ADSG was too large, and the test in the empty plate was around 12mA. The parameter on the Datasheet is 30uA. The static current is normal after replacing TPS62080DSG. The client circuit completely refer to the application circuit of Datasheet.

1.TPS62080DSG、TPS62080ADSG : Do the two chips output different currents? The customer wants to confirm whether the peripheral circuit design needs to be changed during use.

2、Is there a problem with my schematic? What do I need to change to reduce the power consumption of TPS62080ADSG

  • Hello,
Please, can you specify if the resistor R16 is connected and which mode you selected? Apart from that, your schematic follows the documentation. In which condition did you measure the quiescent current (Iq) and which setup did you use? After the failure, you replaced TPS62080ADSG with TPS62080DGS, but did you tried to replace also with the same IC (TPS62080ADSG )? About the difference between these two IC, you can refer to section 5 (page 4 of the datasheet) and see that only the output discharge resistor changes and the relative explanation is in section 8.3.3 (page 10).
Please also have a look of the following documents related to the quiescent current and how to measure it:
