TMDSEVM437X: Referent design issue?

Part Number: TMDSEVM437X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMIC120, TPS65218D0

Hi TI

We have an EIP Project.

Function:

  • Gigabit Ethernet (1)
  • 1GB DDR3
  • 100M PRU Ethernet (1)
  • QSPI-NOR flash
  • eMMC&Nand Flash
  • USB2.0 OTG/HOST (1/1)
  • Audio in/out
  • RS485
  • CAN (1)
  • HDMI (1)

It seems we need to integrate two designs(HS and IDK),I am confused about which referent design is better to modify?(Based on software and hardware considerations)

Could you provide some suggestions? Thanks

1.IDK as template,then copy eMMC/audio/HDMI ....form HS

2.HS  as template, then copy PRU ETH and others from IDK

TI  have 2 referent designs:

IDK(https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSIDK437X):

  • AM4379/AMIC120 Arm® Cortex®-A9
  • 1GB DDR3
  • QSPI-NOR flash
  • Discrete power solution
  • Industrial communication interfaces
  • EnDat connectivity for motor feedback control
  • On-board 2Mp camera (camera interface not available on AMIC120)

HS(www.ti.com/.../TMDSEVM437X):

AM437x high security evaluation module

  • 2GB DDR3
  • Gigabit Ethernet (1)
  • UART (1)
  • Micro SD
  • eMMC&Nand Flash
  • USB2.0 OTG/HOST (1/1)
  • Audio in/out
  • JTAG
  • CAN (2)
  • HDMI (1)

Thanks

  • Hi Qln,

My advice would be to use the design that better matches your plans for the power solution.  Will your design have a PMIC or a discrete power solution for the processor?  The HS EVM uses the TPS65218D0 PMIC with a +5V DC input, and the IDK uses a discrete design (mix of DC/DC and LDO regulators) with +24V DC input.
