TDA4VM: Can TDA4VM support Gateway, Deep Learning, and EVITA HSM full feature implementation?

Part Number: TDA4VM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA829V, , AES-128, DRA829, DRA829J, DRA821U

Hi TI.

There're several questions that Customer wants to get clarified.

They have considered DRA829V for their Automotive Gateway with Deep learning and EVITA requirement.

And They could find that DRA829A does not support Deep Learning Acceleration according to Datasheet Table 5-1. hence TDA4VM can be alternative one.

Could you please answer to the question below.

1. Can TDA4VM implement Gateway while supporting heterogeneous network such as CAN, CAN-FD, Ethernet on behalf of DRA829V?

2. Can TDA4VM support Deep Learning to implement the In-vehicle network intrusion response? Maybe 'yes' because TDA4VM includes Deep Learning Accelerator.

3.  Can TDA4VM support the EVITA Full HSM feature below ? Application will be development by Customer. Plz check whether TDA4VM has the relevant H/W blocks.

4.  Which one is right between TDA4vM and DRA9J for the above application?

please let us know whether TDA4VM does support EVITA-full requirements. I saw a E2E post regarding EVITA HSM, What about Counter  block? The exception was mentioned earlier. e2e.ti.com/.../dra829v-evita-compliant-hsm

This is largely divided into two parts: the Cryptographic building block responsible for encryption and the logic building block for connecting to the application core. Cryptographic building blocks consist of ECC-256-GF, WHIRLPOOL, AES-128, AESPRNG, Counter, and more. It also consists of a programmable CPU, a secure storage device, and a hardware interface.

Thanks.

Regards,

Jack

  • 3.  Can TDA4VM support the EVITA Full HSM feature below ? Application will be development by Customer. Plz check whether TDA4VM has the relevant H/W blocks.

TDA4VM and DRA829 platforms support rough equivalence to EVITA Full HSM features, when combined with third-party HSM stack executing within Security Controller Core

     Crypto Blocks

    • PKA engine supports RSA and ECDSA
    • AES-128/192/256 supported
    • TRNG with AES-256 CTR-DRBG conditioning
    • SHA2-256/384/512 is an established standard supported in place of WHIRLPOOL hash

    Programmable CPU / NVM

    • Programmable Cortex-M3 security controller with dedicated 272KB isolated RAM
    • The TI SDK provides black-box firmware implementing foundational security functions (Secure Boot, Firewalls, Debug, etc.)
    • A third-party HSM stack can be supported that provides HSM functionality and runs alongside TI Foundational Security library
    • Secure Storage can be supported with secure NVM components encrypted and store in external flash with device unique 256-bit random key (NVM not available in technology node)

    Hardware Interface

    • Hardware based multi-threaded secure proxy module with ability to ID host/application for secure operations

    Monotonic Counters

    • Up to 1024 OTP bits in Customer Programmable FROM (CPFROM) can be used to point to new Key updates + SW counters with OTP bits for anti-roll back
    • In addition, dedicated OTP bits exist t prevent rollback of user bootloader and security controller firmware
  • Hi Jack

Quick responses on your other queries

    > Can TDA4VM implement Gateway while supporting heterogeneous network such as CAN, CAN-FD, Ethernet

    Yes it can.

    > on behalf of DRA829V?

Can you clarify this. Are you trying to design  a multi-chip ECU with both a TDA and DRA part. Is that right?

    >. Can TDA4VM support Deep Learning to implement the In-vehicle network intrusion response

High level answer yes. TDA4VM includes a DL MMA engine . No specific solutions offered as part of our SDK for network intrusion response yet.

We are offering customers ability to evaluate TDA4VM AI capabilities, you can find some preliminary details here

    > Which one is right between TDA4vM and DRA9J for the above application?

Do you have a full list of peripherals needed. But based on just the above (gateway + DL) then DRA829J is suitable. I believe in another post Tyler has already clarified other differences between TDA4VM and DRA829J.

    Hope this helps

  • Hi Mukul

Please see my comment.  Thanks a lot.

[Jack] No. they will use only one MPU. They firstly considered DRA821U, But found alternatives as TDA4VM since DRA821U does not support Deel Learning.

[Jack] No, We don't have a full list needed. I agree DRA829J is suitable. They're surveying the appropriate one for their new project.

  • Hi Steve.

Thanks for kind answer. I will update Customer's feedback if needed.

  • Hi

No more questions came from Customer. This thread can be closed. Thanks a lot.

  • They considered TDA4VM since their ADAS project will use TDA4VM as an unique processor platform.

  • Hello Jack

Thanks for the update. TDA4VM is a great choice :)
