Question1:

How many RGMII ports does the CPSW9G of TDA4VM have actually?

TDA4VM Technical Reference Manual says it has 5 ports.

Some texts in TDA4VM datasheet say it has 9 ports, but some texts in TDA4VM datasheet say it has 8 ports.

Qestion2:

How do we use RGMII5 interface?

We use RGMII5 of CPSW9G to connect to DP83TG720R-Q1 in our customized TDA4VM board, Our schematic refers to TIDEP-01020.

How do we use RGMII5 to communicate with DP83TG720R-Q1?

Is there RGMII5 driver or configuration and DP83TG720R-Q1 driver in TDA4 SDK8.0?

How can we verify DP83TG720R-Q1 in Linux? Is there any test tool?

Hi Hui,

1) Please point to the TRM page which mentions 5 ports for CPSW9G. TDA4VM has CPSW9G is a 9 port switch with 8 external ports to interface externally supporting RGMII, RMII etc.

2) Maybe you are looking for the pin mux tool located here below for enabling RGMII5. Further support on s/w can be given by our s/w experts.

4) Referring to latest TDAVM TRM, the CPSW0 (or CPSW9G) is described as 5 ports instead of 9 ports interface:

TI > This is a bug, its 9 ports (8 physical + 1 host port). Thanks for pointing out, we will get it fixed.

When I make(PIN MUX) the relevant pin of TDA4 be used as RGMII5, How to confirm that the PIN MUX is correct. The RGMII5 relevant pins are used as QSGMII before in the code, I want to make sure the PIN MUX is OK. Does the RGMII5 have loopback self-test function? Can we test RGMII5 in TDA4 without external phy?

Hui-Liu,

I do not think that the pin-mux settings would go wrong as so many of our customers use them to configure the SoC for their system. There is no loopback function to validate the RGMII as per my knowledge.
