TMS320C5535: Using Spectrum Digital ezDSP board (circa 2011) with CCS 11

Hi - DSP noob, but eclipse veteran here. I'm hoping to do some basic DSP 101 type experiments on the SD ezDSP eval board (TMS320C5535) that's sat neglected in my desk for like 9 years. I've installed CCS 11(including the DSP and SD includes) , confirmed that the eval board actually works, plugged its USB J2 into the PC... my PC acknowledges the new USB device, but the CCS new project wizard does not find the connected board, and it doesn't seem to be in the board pulldown list.

I'm assuming that maybe CCS v11 doesn't recognize the connected board because I need to add a special config for this old board?

Any help or links appreciated. Happy holidays all.

Hi Ken,

You will need to create a new Target Configuration file (*.ccxml). Type in "XDS100 v2" for "Connection", then type in "5535" in "Board or Device", then select "EZDSP5535" for C5535 eZdsp In order to build the CCS projects, you will have to download the C55x Code Gen Tools 4.4.1 separately and install it under ccs_1100\ccs\tools\compiler. The C55x CGT got removed from the CCS 7.0.0.

Should be XDS100V1

with XDS100V2 can pass test connection, but can't connect CCS.

55xx: GEL Output:
StartUp()
C55xx: Error connecting to the target: (Error -1063 @ 0x0) Device ID is not recognized or is not supported by driver. Confirm device and debug probe configuration is correct, or update device driver. (Emulation package 9.10.0.00080)

Thanks for pointing out the typo. Yes, The EZDSP5535 uses the XDS100V1.
