AM4378: Ethernet PHY with TMDSIDK437X

Part Number: AM4378
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSIDK437X

Hello Experts,

Our customer wants to use the TI AM4378 microprocessor, and interface 1 Gigabit Ethernet with it. He have gone through the TMDSIDK437X evaluation board for the same processor, to see how Gigabit Ethernet has been implemented. TI has used KSZ9031RN Ethernet PHY in the schematic. However, the AM4378 processor would be on one PCB, whereas they are having a separate board for Ethernet (a daughter board) he would like to select a connector, which connects the Ethernet PHY, with the microprocessor, present on another board. Do we need a 14-pin connector,  As 14 pins are required for RGMII interface. He is also confused regarding the power rating for the connector, i.e, how much current will be on each of the 14 RGMII pins. So, ultimately, he would like to select a relevant connector. If you could help us here, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Best regards,

Gerald
