I see some signs that work has been done to enable cpsw5g in uboot: https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/uboot/patch/20210712062025.14518-22-kishon@ti.com/ .

Is this going to be available in the Linux SDK? if yes, when? currently uboot user guide in the sdk documentation does not mention keystone3 devices at all: https://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-linux-j7200/08_05_00_08/exports/docs/j7200/linux/Foundational_Components/U-Boot/UG-Network.html

Hi Michael,

I am not sure what your question exactly is. Are you asking for TFTP/NFS support over one of the CPSW5G ports in U-Boot? If so, this is not supported in the SDK.

The TI U-Boot uses MCU CPSW2G for any TFTP/NFS support. The patch you referenced deals with the CPSW5G switch provided by the Ethernet Firmware, which runs on MCU2_0 and is booted at U-Boot. This is not the native support.

This looks to be a different question. Ethernet peripheral boot is not supported on TDA4 devices.

The native CPSW5G driver support in Linux Kernel should be available in the latest SDKs.

Hi Suman,

Yes, the requirement is to be able to load an image via network from uboot using cpsw5g. the cpsw2g is not enabled in the customer's system.

my second note was more on the documentation side: the uboot UG from the DRA821 SDK linked above only mentions AM335x/AM437x which are not relevant to the DRA821 SDK.

No, I am not aware of any plans to enable this in SDK U-Boot. The referenced thread from 2021 does not say anything about a committed plan either.

Agreed. The documentation is coming from a common source, and hence you see the discrepancies. Anyway, this page is about ROM supported Ethernet Boot, which is not supported.

The feature you are asking for is a regular sdcard/emmc/ospi/usb boot with Ethernet support at U-Boot prompt.
