AM4378: EMIF4 ECC use in AM437x

Part Number: AM4378

I am using the AM437x line of processors, and am interested in using DDR3 ECC. I see that the feature is listed in the EMIF4 register bank in "spruhl7i", but there doesn't seem to be u-boot or Linux support for it in 08.02.XX.XXX SDK.

Is the ECC feature functional on this line of chipsets? Are there errata similar to the AM57XX line?

Thanks,

Rob Damico

  • You are correct, i don't think ECC was ever supported in the Am437x SDKs.  You may want to consider some of our newer devices which do support DDR ECC such as AM64x, AM62x.

  • James,

    Thank you for the response!

I believe we are locked in with the AM4378 HS chipset at this point.

I'm hoping to find out whether or not the ECC works in the chipset itself. If not, it's misleading to have the settings documented in the register definition.

    Thanks,

    Rob

  • My apologies Robert.  I went back into some older specs and discovered that the ECC feature of the IP is tied off as disabled.  So ECC for DDR is not available on AM43x devices.
