Hi Team,

I have some base-level questions about the Mailbox service from some of my customers--hoping you can help out and link any demos if they are available.

  1. Is it possible to access to MCU_MCAN from A53 cores? Is there a plan of record to work on that?
  2. Is there a demo/instruction on how to use MCU_MCAN from the M4 core? 
  3. Is there a demo/instruction on how to communicate between A53 cores and M4 core?

    This query is not clear. Is the customer trying to use MCU CANs from Linux side? If so my understanding is that your ask/query is on how to leverage the MCU CANs from A53/Linux. 

    Assuming above, I will likely reassign this to our Linux experts instead of MCU experts. 

    Additionally how is Q3 related to this?

    Note that the Linux expert who did the MCU MCAN implementation is out of office till Wednesday and will be back in office on Thursday. 

    If this is not Linux related, feel free to let us know and we will reassign

    Hi Mukul,

    Thanks for the quick response--The customer is attempting to use the MCU MCAN0 from the A53 side. Because of this, can you reassign to the Linux expert? When possible, I'd like to get in contact with them soon.

    Hi,

    The support for the MCU MCAN ports will be available in the 9.0 SDK. Please note that to use the TI AM62-SK EVM will require CAN transceivers.

    Appreciate the response here--will the SDK include documentation on how to access the MCU_MCAN ports from the A53 cores in Linux? Any sample code or documentation would be appreciated!

    Hi,

    Yes there will be documentation on CAN transceivers required and DTS changes necessary to enable the interfaces as well.

    Thank you for the clear response! In the interim time between now and the release of SDK 9.0, is there any work-around available to interface with the MCU_MCAN ports from the A53?

    Hi,

    There is a patch set that is currently through the process of being added to mainline. We will work to attach the current patch set in the next couple of days. The documentation will not available until released with the 9.0 SDK.
