AM6548: Need power estimation tool or ways to model thermal performance before part finalization

Hello, We are working to evaluate two Sitara processor-based SOM in one of our scratch design. We wanted to model power loss before actual integration into product.

Can you suggest ways to model thermal performance. Or can you send some power estimation tools?

We are evaluating AM6548 & AM6254. But we wanted to make sure thermal performance will not be an issue after finalizing part and design start.

SOM development kits are its on way and if you have any sample codes (which is for maximum utilization of processor) that can be used to evaluate thermal performance physically, also.

Hi Sreenivasa,

We want power estimation tool (PET) from which we can estimate power consumption by processor. This PET should be specific for processor AM65xx/AM62xx.

In this power estimation tool, we should be able to enter design inputs (e.g., DDR type/frequency) or enable/disable processor blocks/features as per our requirements and estimate power consumption. Based on estimated power consumption, we will go to model temperature rise, heatsink requirements, etc.
