AM6442: A6442 HSR PRP support version

Part Number: AM6442

Hi Team,

Linux SDK 9.2  can support redundant network connections HSR and PRP defined by IEC 62439-3, which version is supported in our firmware? Can it support IEC62439-3 edition4.0 2021-12 version.

-Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

The HSR and PRP we support is based on Ed 3 as the spec reference. The feedback from the team is that there may be gaps with respect to clock redudancy features.

  • Hi Daolin

Yes, I get the similar feedback from customer on the gap. Do we have plan to support ED4?

    -Thomas

  • PTP and redundant clocks is likely something that is SW beyond the TI offering. We provide the HSR switching with offloads, and an example PTP implementation which is the open source linuxptp/ptp4l. This does not currently support redundant clocks, and the feature set of linuxptp is up to the community. We do believe there is a 802.1AS-2020 update coming soon, that includes redundant clocks. But for a large network HSR with PTP with redundant clocks, I would assume there is a need for syctem architecture and SW effort from the user of AM6442.

  • To make it clear PTP support beyond linuxptp is not offered by TI. This is not firmware, this is software stack feature, hardware and ICSS firmware just provides timestamps.
