AM67: MCASP configuration

Hi, 

What do you mean you have two codecs? The AM67 only has one video encoder/decoder IP. What exactly is your use-case?

Sorry for the delay I was out office. I believe you should be able to share the REFCLK, bitclock and frame sync signals between two codec IPs but I am not sure how this could be configured since there is not an example in our SDK.

Just to confirm, you are not referring to the video encoder/decoder IP but instead the audio codec?

Thank you for your reply, I have two application scenario, please help to see if it is workable or not
1. HDMI and CODEC2 play audio independently and simultaneously, please see the diagram below as example

2. Audio coming from HDMI and play at audio equipment by CODEC2, please see the diagram below as example

May I know why you mention video encoder/decoder IP? Is that any limitation with audio?

No, it is just that I am the video CODEC expert and I am not the correct assignment for this thread. I will loop in our other experts to help with this design based question on the MCASP.

You cannot time the AXR1/AXR2 data bits from one McASP using a clock that is not to/from the same McASP.  

Can you use ACLKX from McASP0 to HDMI and ACLKX from McASP1 to CODEC2?

Thank you for your reply, it looks like the original design does not work, so I try to change the design by using one MCASP as below

I believe the design would be worked since I found some threads only discussed it before

But I want to know the use-case below are workable or not.

1. Can CODEC1 and CODEC2 work independently and simultaneously?

    You can see they are sharing same Master clock, BCLK and frame clock, but different MCASP serial data pin.

    I think they can work with only one codec enable, the other one disable, but not sure can they work independently and simultaneously?

2. Can audio be received by one ant play audio by the other one?
