AM62P: SVG Heavy Benchmark Low Performance

Yes the test is run in Chromium, we are using the latest fixes from SDK 9.2, which works well otherwise.

Thank you for checking with the dev team. Our customer is deploying SCADA systems for industrial automation applications. The graphical interfaces are utilizing the highcharts SVG format for the graphs.

One feedback I got from dev team was is there a reason why the customer uses SVG and not webgl? SVG is software rendered and does not seem to have GPU acceleration support. 

Also, what previous platform they run the test on where performance was good?

Hi Krunal, 

The previous platform is using an i.MX6 with about 30% less performance, so the increase is not sufficient to justify a redesign, as the atvise performance is key in this product.

Please help me clarify the following:

1. The SVG benchmark the customer is running is very CPU intensive and the customer acknowledges based on the internal email.

2. The performance boost from imx6 to AM62P for CPU test is about 30% boost but the customer would like to see more. Could you help me define more and what their expectation would be?

3. In terms of improvement, is the customer running our chip with cpu governor as performance?

1. That is correct.
2. The goal is to have minimum a 4x improvement in Atvise vs i.MX6, even with the AM68 we can only reach 2x.
3. The CPU governor is turned off in all benchmarks to run at the max. frequency.

I need to check internally but I am not sure if the A cores scale to 4x. Please ensure CPU governor is turned on to utilize the full frequency. Here is an example of the command to run: echo performance | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_governor
