Tool/software:
Hi , i want to design a ethercat slave board, can you recommend a MCU for it? The MCU has good performance. and we know , we can use a AX58100 as a ESC phy chip, compare with AX58100, what's ICSS-PRU 's advantage?
Hello Feng,
I think this is a matter mostly of opinion that is highly dependent on the design and its requirements. If my opinion is allowed, then I would say the PRU-ICSS module offers greater versatility of use and the AM572x device offers much more function.
One useful page for a direct comparison: https://www.ethercat.org/download/documents/ESC_Overview.pdf
Best,
Josue
To add AX58100 is an ESC with integrated PHY's, connects to host MCU or processor using SPI. ICSS-PRU can implement the digital part of ESC, with separate discrete 100M MII based PHY's such as https://www.ti.com/product/DP83826E .
