Straightforward H264 recording application: which set of TI tools most effective ?

Hi,

On a 6467 or 6467T - For a simple H264 video recording application with perhaps input color space conversion and some resizing, which of the TI tool sets would give best turnaround time into a running  'proof of concept'. I am also looking at tool setup complexity and how big an API knowledge is needed to be effective.

There is DVSDK but also the various C6Run etc. Some need Code Composer (with licences) some do not.

Next: a path into adding in some custom code on the DSP side to make use of DSP mips, such as motion processing and onscreen text.

Is there a software-only emulation that could be used to trial run the required development / build processes ?
