When will the TwinCAT software be available for Windows 7 operating systems? A lot of us are migrating over to Windows 7 and XP is becoming increasingly difficult to get ahold of. I hope others do not have to run into this issue as I did.

this is definitely a problem for many of us. But why do you ask this question here? TwinCAT is a Beckhoff tool and TI has no direct influence on the development or releases at all.
For sure TwinCAT 3 will have Windows 7 support and you may get early releases from Beckhoff already. I have moved to using a real PLC anyway as it is a much better platform due to enhanced real-time capabilities.

I run windows 7 on a 64 bit machine and run TwinCAT from a 32 bit virtual machine.
This solution works for me.

Yes, probably as long as you don't need DC mode at 100us cycle times :-).
