EtherCAT on AM3359 Industrial Communications Engine (ICE)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3359

Hello!

I have ordered (but have not received yet) AM3359 ICE (TMDXICE3359) and I want to know some details about EtherCAT slave device implementation with it.

Do I need to worry about creation of EtherCAT Slave Information (ESI) xml file or CCSv5 will do it for me?

Are there any tutorials for EtherCAT slave device development with TMDXICE3359?

Where could I find detailed description of ESI file contents?

Thank you in advance!

  • 1. We provide a sample XML file in the SDK that will be available for download in few days.

    2. Yes, there are multiple Wiki pages that will go live. You will be able to get these links:

    • SDK 01.00.00.01 Installer
    • SDK 01.00.00.01 Pre-Built Binaries
    • SDK 01.00.00.01 Release Notes
    • SDK 01.00.00.01 User Guide
    • SDK Getting Started Guide
    • Running EtherCAT Conformance Test Tool (CTT)
    • Demonstrating Digital Output (LED) control with TwinCAT
    • Steps to apply software patch to add AM335x support in ETG EtherCAT stack and rebuilding the stack and application

    3. ESI file will be provided as a sample in the SDK that will be available for download for ICE and included on a SD card in IDK. You will likely have to modify it to fit the description of the EtherCAT device you are building. The documentation is on www.ethercat.org website.

    Thanks.

  • When will these Wiki pages be accessable approximately?

    Thank you very much!

  • Early next week.

    Thanks.
