Short circuit on the 1.8V analog VDAC of DM8168

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65001

Hi, All,

we designed our custom board based on the dm8168 with HDCP support, everything seems fine expect the analog video DAC, we used the same power regulator TPS65001 as the EVM for the 1.8V analog input,  and the current of  this power rail is around 60mA when the board is running, for couple  of our boards, the processor seems short inside on the VDAC side after couple days runing, cause the load for the 1.8V analog is small which short theTPS65001, and the power chip got so hot, which prevent the board boot into system successfully~~ we replaced the power regular, and it performed the same, the internel load for the 1.8V analog is 2ohm when power down., for the good board, the load is close to 2K ohm/

Anyoen has clue on this, we still trying to figue out this problem,

  • Check all your power supply connections in your schematic and on your board. Measure all supplies as close as possible to the processor pins to make sure all the supplies are correct.

When you say "we replaced the power regular, and it performed the same" do you mean the system still fails or the system is then good?

Can you remove the processor to check if the short follows the processor or the PCB?

    BR,

    Steve
