Hello, TI Experts,

Our customer sent us questions about SD-card boot on TMDSIDK574.

They failed to boot from the below SD-card.

   - Transcend 8GB class4 microSD HC

They found success to boot from the below SD-card.

  - SanDisk 4GB class4 microSD HC I

Question:

  - Could you tell us why SD-boot fail by "Transcend 8GB class4 microSD HC"?

  - Are there recommended SD-card product or SD-card brand?

They also checked below related E2E thread.

But they cannot found the answer.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/p/413440/1526536

We would appreciate if you tell us the recommended SD-card information.

Best regards,

  • Hello matusan,

You are familiar with this thread right? There was an issue back in Processor SDK version 3 and your customer is using an old Processor SDK version. I suppose that because the latest Processor SDK versions doesn't fit into 4GB SD card. Maybe they are using the exact Processor SDK version 3 or older. First they need to update to the latest Processor SDK and check if that issue persists. Second, in my experience here in these threads here, here, here, here, here and here I got a feedback from some customers who faced issues with some SD cards, but these issues can be entity, batch, defective, counterfeit SD card or driver related issues, so that I cannot, recommend or not recommend you any SD card.

    Best regards,
    Kemal

  • Hi,

Thank you very much for providing us about SD-card information about Linux.

    I really appreciate your help.

Our customer create the original program with Processor SDK RTOS 05_00_00_15.

And they try to boot from SD-card which has those their program.

If you have additional information about SD-card information with Processor SDK RTOS,

    please tell us.

  • Hi,

I typically used the Windows PC to format the SD card as FAT32, then directly copy files to it to boot. I didn't meet issue, I used different cards from 1GB, 4, 8, 16 and 32GB, they all from Sandisk. I knew some customer met the boot issue from various brand or size of SD cards, can you try the suggestion here: software-dl.ti.com/.../index_overview.html to see if it work for the failure card?

    Regards, Eric
