Linux/AM5728: How to change the kernel/device tree configuration for my new camera module?

Hi Champs,

I'm developing a camera module with a CMOS image sensor which can be connected to AM572x GP EVM via P9 camera connector on the LCD board.
So, could you please let me know how to add the image sensor support to the current linux kernel configuration to compile the device driver source code?

And I'd like to ask one more thing. How to make a device tree file for the image sensor and add it to the current device tree configuration to compile?
The image sensor is similer to OV10635. So I think I can refer to the OV10635 device tree file, but I'm not sure how to add the new device tree file to the current DT configuration.

Hello,

You could refer ov10635x device tree. You could find it under :
/psdk/board-support/linux-xx.xx.x/arch/arm/boot/dts/ti folder.
Please refer the MakeFile in arch/arm/boot/dts also.
video-interfaces.txt file could be helpful with camera configuration you could find it in Documentation/devicetree/bindings/media.
You may search in the internet how you could add new device tree since this is a general linux question.
In this guide software-dl.ti.com/.../Foundational_Components_Kernel_Users_Guide.html , you could find "Compiling the Device Tree Binaries" .

I could not find the dts files, am57xx-evm-reva3.dts and am57xx-evm-reva3-cam-ov10635.dts. Could you please let me know where I can get them?
I'm using Processor SDK Linux 05_02_00_10.

And I'd like to ask you one more question.
When I generate the my image sensor device tree(e.g. am57xx-evm-reva3-cam-mysensor.dtb), do I have to add below text to uEnv.txt in SD card?

fdtfile=am57xx-evm-reva3-cam-ov10635.dtb

On the one hand, It seems like you said that you did not need it as following below. I'd like to make sure whether I have to add the text or not.

    1. Yes, dual camera demo will run with the camera module without to make any changes.

Hello,

-Please refer the psdk/board-support/linux-xx.xx.xx/arch/arm/boot/dts/ti folder.
-Yes, You could load your dtb by following "how to change dtb file" guide or you could copy am57xx-evm-reva3-cam-ov10635.dtb as am57xx-evm-reva3.dtb in the /boot folder of target board filesystem. In boot folder in of target board filesystem you will find prebuild dtb files.
-I am using Am572x EVM + camera module (ov10635 based) and the dual camera demo works fine without any changes in the demo with one camera module.

Hi,

I checked out the folder you told me. There are some .dsto files. I can not find the .dts files.
I think that I installed the psdk correctly.

Hi Margarita,

I could find the dts file in Linux PSDK v04_03_00_05.
Could you please let me know why the dts files were deleted from the latest SDK, if you have any?
