TMS320DM8168: HDMI_EXTSWING PIN hardware design recommendation of DM8168

Hi Champs,

The HDMI_EXTSWING PIN is recommended to connected with external 5.9KΩ resistor with TRM SPRS614D version, while 698Ω resistor was recommended on older TRM version.

Could customer continue use 698Ω resistor on their hardware design? What's the impact on different resistor value and any risk on 698Ω design?

Hi Jane,

I highly recommend to refer to the latest documentation and use the 5.9k resistor. You could also check that the EVM uses 5.9k (see page 11):

Hi Yordan，

Customer wants to know what is function of HDMI_EXTSWING pin? Is it used to tune the HDMI output swing? Customer now used 698Ohm instead of 5.9K, they have observed black screen issue when running long time. They will change to 5.9K ohm to check again.

It affects both the output swing and the Voh & Vol levels. Actually this should be 6.8K ohm. Take a look at the following wiki:
