Hi,

I understood that it is difficult to implement 4 port EMAC Switch without PRU firmware modification.

The PRU firmware need to be modified. To avoid overloading the Host with FDB operations, the firmware Switch should perform FDB lookups and forward Layer 2 (L2) traffic. There is no FDB in current firmware.

If they don't need Cut Through Switch for 4ch, is it possible for them to implement 4ch Store-and-Forward Switch by using two of Dual EMAC Switch of AM57xx without PRU firmware modification ?

They've not yet used PSDK. They're now researching if Sitara can be applicable to their application.

Hi Hideaki,

The feature of 4-port switch is now at 'proposed' status. Any status change will be reflected in the CATREQ-2889 where you are in the list of 'watchers'.

It might possible by updating ICSS_EMAC driver only if supporting the 4 port Store-and-Forward Switch as described above. As the frames need to be routed to the 2nd ICSS, the queues probably need optimize to achieve better throughput in the use case.
