TMDSEVM6657: TMS320C6657 processor in TMDSEVM6657 is fixed point?

Hello everyone,

I am working with TMDSEVM6657 evaluation board. I have ordered it through DigiKey. In the technical reference manual that I got inside the package that came with evaluation board I have found the information that the TMS320C6657 on evaluation board is fixed point. However, in a discussion with TI support, as well as inside the datasheets for this processor on TI site I have found the information that the processor is both fixed point and floating point.

Does anyone can help me clarify this confusion?

I would appreciate any comment, suggestion or help.

    Hi, Dejana,

    I suspect it is the 3rd party manufacturer of the EVM misprinted the info. In all TI website on C6657, the fixed and floating point are mentioned, but in 3rd party manufacturer website, I see only fixed point is listed. You should be okay with the floating point feature.

    My idea is to try using some of the functions from floating point library. If they can be used, it is definitely both fixed point and floating point.
